Communism and Nuclear Bunker Tourism: Bringing the Past Back

Museum Tour and adventure is what we came up on the last day in Prague. I was not pretty familiar on how the bunker would be look like. So, when my husband suggested that we’d go there the next day, I gave it a try.

We woke up early for our breakfast and getting ready for the tour at 11am. We left like 30 minutes before the time. We didn’t know the location. All we can rely on was our MAP. While following the map…

There was some trouble happening. We got lost each other. I went straight and went out somewhere and he went up in the Parukarka Park. We’re struggling to find each other. I was worried about him. I was thinking to wait in the park because I know he would get back on me. Unfortunately, he’d never been back, so I was slowly walking back home. There, I saw him coming. He kept looking for me and he even went back home to search me. Very unfortunate… we missed the 11am and we had to go back home.

We explained to the attendant of the hostel in Marabou Hostel what happened. He said we could have the 3:30 pm today. This is the last opportunity that we shouldn’t miss.

Now, in t he next part of my journal, I will be talking about communism and my learning about the NUCLEAR BUNKER TOUR.
This is really a real nuclear bunker from 1950’s, which has 16 m – 4 floors deep under the terrain. According to our guide, this is the biggest one in Prague which occupied by up to 5000 people inside. Read more: http://www.nuclear-bunker.com/

Inside the banker, you will discover how well prepared the EAST BLOCK for the nuclear conflict against the west. They have all the necessary equipments such as medicine, masks, which has exhalation chamber cover, for all professions and all ages food, toys for kids, war tools like, nuclear war gear and suits, machine gun,  technical equipments, ammunition and soldier’s full gear. They have this protective cloak to protect themselves during the nuclear war.

During this visit, you would feel how difficult the Czech people’s lives during the nuclear war. They were squashing each other inside the banker with full of fear and hopeless to stay a live.

When you are inside the bunker museum, you can wear the communism uniforms of the soldiers during the world war. Now, the other side of this bunker has been converted to a night pub and a small movie room. Communism is a type of government that relies on collectivization of labor and good to equal out the classes. However, the reality is people were oppress and supress and wouldn't have a chance to enjoy freedom. During this world war, imagine how many people were died because of the nuclear conflict. A lot of people still suffers its nuclear aftermath. Despite of all these, I am still impress on how well-prepared they were during the war and how hard they try to save lives inside this nuclear shelter. This is designed to protect occupants from radioactive debris or fallout resulting from a nuclear explosion. But, the question is WHAT HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO WEREN'T ABLE TO MAKE IT INSIDE?

Memories in Austria from June 7 to June 16

Day 1 in Vienna – June 7, 2012 Leaving Budapest makes me sad, but going to Vienna makes me so excited. Another cultural experience has been waiting for us. So, the day before we left the country, we made sure that we have the necessary foods for the trip and cash because we need to buy train ticket. We woke up early and started walking at 5am heading to the Train Station, Budapest- Keleti. We supposed to leave at 6:05 am; however, there was something wrong with the rail jet, so we were transferred to another train that left at 7:10. We reached in Wein Meilding station in Austria at 9: 58am. Of course, travelling is not really all fun. I felt so tired specially, you can’t sleep well and you have to wake up so early. This train or Railjet 60 is much faster than the train we had from Bekes while the train from Debeljaca to Becej is the slowest of all. This is really second to Bullet Train. They have comfortable seats and ventilations. They give us program to inform us about ...

Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey

Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are the most beautiful mosque I've ever seen in my life. Looking at this makes me feel better after having a feeling of nausea of the 10-hour-trip. I felt relieved when we arrived safely in Istanbul, Turkey. I've realized that this gonna be the biggest trip ever. Ending the last leg of the Euro trip with a bang!!! Hagia Sophia Blue Mosque

Copenhagen: The Model of Happiness and Unity

June 26-27, 2012 Horrifying Check-up from Customs Reaching Copenhagen is not easy journey as what we usually had. We were in the middle of the road like for 10 hours. With in those hours, we were checked by the two group of customs from Germany and Denmark.  It was horrifying the fact that they have to check our passport one by one.  Both of these customs had different goals in mind. Like the Germans, they have to check for illegal immigrants. One of us was found that there was something wrong with his passport. He was asked to get off and not to continue the trip. Not only that, after we crossed the sea for 45 minutes in a Roll on Roll off ship, we were being checked by the Danish customs. It was quite horrifying because they were checking if your passport was real or not. Aside from that, since this Eurolines bus was from Amsterdam, they were also checking for stash or drugs.  Guess what! Four of them were asked to get off for full body scan ...
