Discovering Venezia on Tibor's Birthday

About Venice:

Tibby's birthday July 14, but was extended until 15.

If you are planning for honeymoon and want to have romantic place to spend with, I recommend you to go to Venice, Italy. You can try enjoying the beautiful scenery on a gondola -a light flat-bottomed boat used on Venetian canals, having a high point at each end and worked by one oar at the stern. But for us, we were just satisfied using our feet to explore the beautiful and unique place of Venezia.

We arrived in Venice earlier than the expected arrival. I had a bad impression after I saw the unpleasing harbor. There's no beach really. We stopped at the Eurolines office where it's not the main bus station. I had to pause in front of the office for almost an hour because it's close we need to get a new ticket for Rome. On the other hand, Tibby was roaming around looking for the main bus station. I felt so happy seeing him back, so we could fix our ticket. He went inside waiting on the queue. I was outside keeping my eyes on our bags. When he went out, we found out that they couldn't give us ticket for Rome because it is in the same city. Well... we have no choice, but somehow to get a train ticket.

Speaking of the train... we stepped inside a small train (cable train). They called it PEOPLE'S MOVER". It is our first time to try this people’s mover. All you have to do is to buy a ticket for 1 euro from the vending machine. This will take you to Piazzo Roma. We were surprised with the huge crowd swarming all over the place. We kept going and trying our luck to the train station and checked how much it cost. We just learned that it was 40 euro to ride on a train, which cheaper 5 euro than buying a new bus ticket. After the inquiry, we booked our ticket for July 15, 12 m.n.

Therefore, we didn't have another time to waste. Celebrating Tibor's birthday had been started." I thought. I just want to make this day special for him. We took bus no. 5  and stopped in Camping Realto, which was not really hard to find because it's very famous and also cheap camping site in the place. It just cost 10 euro per night. However, this was already in the out skirt of the city, so as expected we were spending money for transportation.

We checked in around late afternoon. We paid and have ourselves set and fix. We were given one tent with two beds inside. It was very comfortable. Not just simply a camping site, but it was like inside your room having a very comfortable pillows and soft bed. We took a shower and refreshed ourselves getting ready to go back to the city to take the first step- EXPLORATION.

This time, going back to Venezia (Italian name) is just easy. All you have to do is to catch Bus 19 across the camping site. This bus operates only until 9 p.m. We arrived again in Venice city and so excited on where to start. It's Tibby's birthday and I let him led the way.  This city of Northeastern Italy, on a lagoon of Adriatic Sea was built on a numerous islands that are separated by canals and linked by bridges. When we got to the place, we thought it was just easy, but this time we were disoriented like walking in a maze.

And this is what happen...

We entered a narrow street looking at the sign Piazza Roma. Then, we just walked aimlessly like we always did on most of our trips. The streets were so narrow and it looked just the same. Until we found a pizza restaurant where we bought a box of pizza for 7 euro for Tibor's birthday. He loved the cheesy pizza so much. We just stopped and ate the pizza on the steps of the bridge and then we happened to decide to go on walking again. I couldn't give you more details where we walked and turned because there were no street names and it was pretty hard to read the markings and we didn't know where to go. It was like in "The Lost Adventure".

In one square of the town, I saw a lot of young people drinking and shouting and singing Italian songs. Was there any party or festival? I didn't even know what happen. Until, we made up our mind to go home. The further we went, the more disoriented we were.

Later then, we've realized we were not alone. There were two guys also asking about where they were. They were lost as well. I was asking the local people there on how to get to the bus station. I just told them the bus station because I don't know where we were in the map. Hu-huh! Finally, after the moment of asking the directions, Tibby remembered the street and just followed his gutsy will. Then we were home celebrating his sweet and hot birthday all night inside the cold tent. Happy Birthday honey!

On the next day...

We supposed to have the tour. However, the free tour had cancelled. In my opinion, only in this small city were not allowing " FREE TOURS". We sent them an email, however, they sent back that free tours were not available this time for some reasons. We will do our own tour for free following the map. This time... no more getting lost drama.

We agreed to follow the big Grande Canal, so we wouldn't be in the off-course again. We went around following Grande Canal and markings on the wall as our guide this time. As luck would have it, our map took us to these following sites:
St. Mark Cathedral

St, Mark's Square

The famous Ponte di Rialto bridge

Even we have only two days in Venice, but the experience was incredibly exciting and memorable. We were drinking wine and ate another pizza along the canal while Tibby was acting drunkard. Hahaha... Just we were laughing so hard. We were having fun and love Venice so much. I couldn't forget when he kissed me at the most famous Ponte di Rialto bridge. Venice is romantic place to stay.

Memories in Austria from June 7 to June 16

Day 1 in Vienna – June 7, 2012 Leaving Budapest makes me sad, but going to Vienna makes me so excited. Another cultural experience has been waiting for us. So, the day before we left the country, we made sure that we have the necessary foods for the trip and cash because we need to buy train ticket. We woke up early and started walking at 5am heading to the Train Station, Budapest- Keleti. We supposed to leave at 6:05 am; however, there was something wrong with the rail jet, so we were transferred to another train that left at 7:10. We reached in Wein Meilding station in Austria at 9: 58am. Of course, travelling is not really all fun. I felt so tired specially, you can’t sleep well and you have to wake up so early. This train or Railjet 60 is much faster than the train we had from Bekes while the train from Debeljaca to Becej is the slowest of all. This is really second to Bullet Train. They have comfortable seats and ventilations. They give us program to inform us about ...

Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey

Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are the most beautiful mosque I've ever seen in my life. Looking at this makes me feel better after having a feeling of nausea of the 10-hour-trip. I felt relieved when we arrived safely in Istanbul, Turkey. I've realized that this gonna be the biggest trip ever. Ending the last leg of the Euro trip with a bang!!! Hagia Sophia Blue Mosque

Copenhagen: The Model of Happiness and Unity

June 26-27, 2012 Horrifying Check-up from Customs Reaching Copenhagen is not easy journey as what we usually had. We were in the middle of the road like for 10 hours. With in those hours, we were checked by the two group of customs from Germany and Denmark.  It was horrifying the fact that they have to check our passport one by one.  Both of these customs had different goals in mind. Like the Germans, they have to check for illegal immigrants. One of us was found that there was something wrong with his passport. He was asked to get off and not to continue the trip. Not only that, after we crossed the sea for 45 minutes in a Roll on Roll off ship, we were being checked by the Danish customs. It was quite horrifying because they were checking if your passport was real or not. Aside from that, since this Eurolines bus was from Amsterdam, they were also checking for stash or drugs.  Guess what! Four of them were asked to get off for full body scan ...
